King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in Washington, DC, for their first official state visit to the United States on Monday \u2013 and the royal pair have a busy four days ahead of them.<\/p>\n
After touching down in the US capital to celebrate the nation\u2019s upcoming 250th birthday, Charles and Camilla will meet with President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a private tea.<\/p>\n

Getty Images<\/p>\n Charles, 77, is also expected to address Congress during his and Camilla\u2019s visit to Washington, marking just the second time in history that a British monarch has done so, following Queen Elizabeth\u2019s famous address in 1991.<\/p>\n Although the royal pair have visited the US several times before, this trip marks their first visit since Charles became king<\/a> upon his mother\u2019s death at 96 in September 2022.<\/p>\n President Trump said he was looking forward to hosting Charles and Camilla during \u201cThe Sunday Briefing\u201d<\/a> over the weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cKing Charles is coming, and he\u2019s a great guy, and we look forward to it,\u201d the 79-year-old leader shared. \u201cHe\u2019s really a fantastic person and a tremendous representative.\u201d<\/p>\n The president continued, \u201cHe\u2019s a friend of mine\u00a0for a long time. So he\u2019s coming, and we\u2019re going to have a great time. Getty Images<\/p>\n Meanwhile, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed that the king and queen would still make their four-day state visit to the US in the wake of the shocking shooting at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner<\/a> on Saturday night.<\/p>\n \u201cFollowing discussions on both sides of the Atlantic through the day, and acting on advice of Government, we can confirm the State Visit by Their Majesties will proceed as planned,\u201d the spokesperson announced, per Sky News<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe King and Queen are most grateful to all those who have worked at pace to ensure this remains the case and are looking forward to the visit getting underway tomorrow,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n After their stay in Washington, Charles and Camilla, 78, will travel to New York City for several events.<\/p>\n Charles and Camilla (pictured here during a visit to the US in January 2007) will travel to New York City during their four-day state visit.
