NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2014 Proposals to bring the first artificial intelligence-based high school to New York City are off the table for now.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the Department of Education confirmed to PIX11 News that \u201csome of the proposals\u201d on the April 29 Panel for Education Policy (PEP) agenda have been withdrawn, as first reported by the New York Daily News<\/a>.<\/p>\n More Local News <\/a><\/p>\n The plan to open a school in Lower Manhattan, Next Generation Technology High School, was pulled off the agenda, but it \u201cis not an end to these important conversations,\u201d the spokesperson told PIX11 News. The topic was previously scheduled for a vote on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Next Generation would \u201cengage students in learning that will allow them to be builders as well as ethical users of AI and other modern technologies,\u201d according to DOE officials.<\/a><\/p>\n The school would have shared space with Richard R. Green and LMCMS in M282 as early as the 2026-2027 academic year for roughly 100 ninth-grade students.
