Jersey City Mayor James Solomon has picked city resident Ruby B. Choi, who served four mayors of New York City, as the city\u2019s business administrator, effective next Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cJersey City deserves a city government that is efficient, responsive, and works for working people, and Ruby Choi is exactly the leader to help us build it,\u201d Solomon said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has spent her career making government work better \u2014 whether that means modernizing how residents access services, managing complex reform efforts, or bringing rigorous strategic planning to large organizations. I\u2019m thrilled to welcome her to our team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Choi most recently served as deputy commissioner of strategic initiatives at the New York City Office of Technology and Innovation.<\/p>\n

There, she led citywide efforts in digital transformation, IT program management, and emerging technology strategy across a city government\u00a0\u00a0of more than 6,000 IT employees and $7 billion in major technology projects.<\/p>\n

Under her leadership, the city launched\u00a0\u00a0a centralized platform for residents to find, apply for, and track city services \u2014 and developed New York City\u2019s Artificial Intelligence Action Plan.<\/p>\n

Previously, Choi served as assistant commissioner at the New York City Police Department, where she designed and established their first-ever Project Management Office and Change Management Office.<\/p>\n

She also managed a portfolio of more than 60 major initiatives, and led the development of two NYPD strategic plans and the city\u2019s police reform plan.<\/p>\n

Earlier in her career, she held multiple roles at the NYC Mayor\u2019s Office of Operations, where she led projects at the intersection of data analytics, technology, and policy \u2014 work for which she was awarded the Hayes Innovation Prize<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve spent my career in public service because I believe government can and should work well, while improving the quality of life for the people it serves,\u201d Choi added.<\/p>\n

\u201cJersey City is my home, and I\u2019m honored to bring everything I\u2019ve learned to this role. I look forward to working with Mayor Solomon, the City Council, and city employees to deliver the results that residents deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Further, Solomon, who took office on January 15th, thanked Acting Business Administrator Peter Horton, who was a holdover from Mayor Steven Fulop\u2019s administration, for his efforts.<\/p>\n
