Deranged White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner shooting suspect<\/a> Cole Allen\u2019s alleged manifesto said he wanted to kill any member of the Trump administration he could find \u2014 except FBI Director Kash Patel.<\/p>\n

Now, federal investigators are trying to figure out why Patel was specifically exempt from the gunman\u2019s screed \u2014 and sources told The Post they have a working theory.<\/p>\n

Sources said Patel\u2019s specific exclusion likely stemmed from Allen\u2019s purported desire to avoid targeting law enforcement \u2013 while focusing squarely on Trump, whom he ranted against in the manifesto.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAnything would really just be speculation, but he took the time to go through why he wasn\u2019t targeting all of the law-enforcement agencies, so I think it\u2019s probably related to that,\u201d a law enforcement source told The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cole Allen, who is now charged with attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump, explicitly said FBI Director Kash Patel was not an intended target in the planned Saturday attack. <\/p>\n

Alternatively, \u201c[Allen] was pretty anti-Christian and Kash is Hindu,\u201d the source said. <\/p>\n

Another source said Allen \u201cspecifically said he didn\u2019t want to target law enforcement. That\u2019s why.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, the sources said they are still investigating the true motives of the gunman. <\/p>\n

Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche said Sunday that Allen is not cooperating with law enforcement following his arrest.<\/p>\n

Sources said Patel\u2019s specific exclusion likely stemmed from Allen\u2019s purported desire to avoid targeting law enforcement. AP<\/p>\n

Allen, who is now charged with attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump<\/a>, left behind a horrifying manifesto detailing his \u201crules of engagement\u201d for the planned Saturday night bloodbath \u2013 and singling out Patel.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAdministration officials (not including Mr. Patel): they are the targets, prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest,\u201d Allen, 31, wrote in the 1,052-word screed first published in full by The Post<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSecret Service: they are targets only if necessary, and to be incapacitated non-lethally if possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cHotel Security: not targets if at all possible (aka unless they shoot at me),\u201d the anti-Trump madman continued, adding that Washington Metro police officers and National Guard troops were to be treated in the same way.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hotel staffers and guests were \u201cnot targets at all,\u201d he wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Allen\u2019s manifesto made it clear he was focused squarely on President Trump. \u00a0 REUTERS<\/p>\n

However, one law enforcement officer was hit in his bulletproof vest after Allen allegedly opened fire<\/a> and charged toward the Washington Hilton ballroom, where roughly 2,500 guests had assembled for the gala.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The CalTech grad made a defiant first appearance in federal court Monday, where he was hit with charges of attempted assassination of the president, transportation of a firearm across state lines to commit a felony and discharging a gun.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He faces life in prison if convicted of the top charge.<\/p>\n

Patel said in a news conference Monday<\/a> that the FBI was \u201cgrateful to the United States Secret Service, the Department of Homeland Security and our inter-agency partners\u2026for swiftly jumping into action\u201d at the event. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat should be celebrated by every single American. They did exactly what they were trained to do.
