New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players have announced the company’s 2026 Gala honoring\u00a0two-time Tony Award-winning actress and director\u00a0Victoria Clark<\/a>\u00a0with the\u00a0Albert Bergeret<\/a> Living Legacy of Gilbert & Sullivan Award\u00a0on May 11. An unforgettable evening of elegance, artistry, and celebration, NYGASP concludes its historic 51st season under new Artistic Director,\u00a0James Mills<\/a>.\u00a0Ms. Clark will perform alongside company members highlighting a shared passion for Gilbert and Sullivan.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Previous recipients of the Albert Bergeret<\/a> Living Legacy of Gilbert & Sullivan Award include such luminaries as Sheldon Harnick<\/a>, Rupert Holmes<\/a> and Kevin Kline<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Victoria Clark<\/a>, two-time Tony Award-winning actress and director has been celebrated for her work on stage, film, television, concerts and recordings. A Dallas native, she has appeared in 14 Broadway productions and earned Tony Awards for creating roles in the critically acclaimed musicals,\u00a0The Light in the Piazza\u00a0and\u00a0Kimberly Akimbo. She was also nominated for\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tony Awards for\u00a0Sister Act,\u00a0Gigi, and\u00a0Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Last fall, Clark starred in\u00a0Punch, a play by James Graham<\/a> at the Manhattan Theater Club.<\/p>\n

An Honorary Board Member with NYGASP, Ms. Clark fostered an early love of Gilbert and Sullivan at Yale, playing Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance) and the title role in\u00a0Patience\u00a0as well as directing a production of\u00a0Ruddigore\u00a0for the Yale Gilbert and Sullivan Society.<\/p>\n

Film and television credits include\u00a0The Gilded Age,\u00a0Elsbeth,\u00a0Almost Family,\u00a0The Blacklist,\u00a0Homeland,\u00a0911-Nashville,\u00a0Pose,\u00a0The Happening,\u00a0Cradle Will Rock, and Hallmark’s\u00a0One Royal Holiday, among others.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Clark has had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall<\/a> singing Ma Joad in the opera\u00a0The Grapes of Wrath\u00a0by Ricky Ian Gordon<\/a>, and Katisha in the MasterVoices production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s\u00a0The Mikado,\u00a0directed and conducted by Ted Sperling<\/a>. In addition to her acclaimed performing career, Clark is a director (Love Life\u00a0for New York City Center’s\u00a0Encores!\u00a0series) and avid educator, serving as Artist in Residence at both Duke University<\/a> and Pace University. She is a frequent guest lecturer and Master Class Teacher at her alma mater Yale University.<\/p>\n
