The York Theatre’s 2026-27 season will include two new musicals\u2014Truly, Howard Hughes and Kilgallen\u2014as well as\u00a0the return of the New2NY Series, reaffirming the Off-Broadway company’s\u00a0mission to develop, produce, and celebrate new musical theatre.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The world premiere of\u00a0Truly, Howard Hughes\u2014about the late\u00a0aviator, filmmaker, businessman,\u00a0and recluse\u2014will be presented September 9\u2013October 4. Directed and choreographed by Jennifer Paulson-Lee, the new musical features a book by Frank Evans<\/a>, Paulson-Lee, and James Scully<\/a>; lyrics by Evans and Chad Gorn; and music by Scully. Another world premiere will follow,\u00a0Kilgallen, running November 28\u2013December 27. Featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Chuck Strand and additional music by George Petersen, this true crime musical spotlights Dorothy\u00a0Kilgallen,\u00a0the most powerful
Three musical titles to be announced will be part of the return of the NEW2NY Series, which spotlights new work. Running March 6-April 11, 2027, the series features staged concert presentations of developing musicals.\u00a0<\/p>\n The York Theatre has also announced a partnership with\u00a0TheaterWorksUSA\u00a0that will bring the company’s work to The York\u2019s current home at\u00a0The Theater at St. Jean\u2019s. Three productions are scheduled for the upcoming season:\u00a0The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System\u00a0(music and lyrics by Matthew Lee Robinson and a\u00a0book by Marshall Pailet<\/a>;\u00a0January
