President Trump gave first lady Melania Trump<\/a> a love tap on the tush in a candid moment with King Charles III and Queen Camilla<\/a> that was captured on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Trump was pictured making the affectionate gesture to the first lady as the royals arrived at the White House for a packed day of official engagements.<\/p>\n

The president spoke briefly at the ceremony, noting his mother\u2019s Scottish ancestry and the centuries-long relationship between the US and the UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n

King Charles and President Trump exchanged a firm handshake on the red carpet set up by the steps of the White House as they exchanged brief remarks.<\/p>\n

The arrival ceremony featured more than two dozen military honor guards on the South Lawn of the White House ahead of a formal meeting between\u00a0Trump and the British monarch in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Melania and Queen Camilla were set to head to a different area of the White House to meet with students.<\/p>\n

Later on Tuesday, Charles<\/a> will address Congress \u2014 becoming the first British monarch to do so in 35 years.<\/p>\n

Following his address at around 3 p.m., the King and Camilla will return to the White House for a state dinner at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo tribute could be more appropriate,\u201d President Trump said of the move to allow the King to speak to lawmakers.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to be addressing Congress and I\u2019m going to be watching,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was thinking of going, but they said, \u2018I don\u2019t know. That might be a step too far.\u2019 I would love to go. It\u2019s not supposed to be protocol, but I would love to be with you,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut there, the direct descendant of King George III will speak to the direct successor of the very body that gathered in Independence Hall on July 4, 1776,\u201d President Trump continued.<\/p>\n

King Charles did not deliver any remarks during the arrival ceremony, which aims to ease tensions between Washington and London, following British Prime Minister Keir Starmer\u2019s decision not to back President Trump\u2019s war in Iran<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This week\u2019s visit was cast into doubt over the weekend after a shooting at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Association Dinner raised security fears for the royals.<\/p>\n
