We’re super confident in that plan,” Matt McCool, special agent in charge of the Secret Service New York Field Office, said.

The royals are set to make stops throughout Manhattan, including at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum and the New York Public Library. McCool said the Secret Service has spent the last month preparing, alongside local and British law enforcement.

What You Need To Know

King Charles and Queen Camilla will tour New York City Wednesday, with visits to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum and the New York Public Library

New Yorkers should expect disruptions across Manhattan due to security measures

The Secret Service said there is no increased threat after a gunman tried to enter the White House Correspondents Association Dinner days ago

The high profile visit comes just days after a gunman attempted to rush through security at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner in Washington, D.C., where President Trump and many other figures protected by the Secret Service were in attendance.

“First thing I’ll say about the dinner is, is that the plan worked. No weapons got into our secure zone. And the president, the vice president, the first lady, and and the rest of our protectees were safe. That said, we’ll take a full, in-depth after action look at what happened. And if there’s things that we can do better, of course we’ll do those,” McCool said.

Asked whether the incident raised the threat level for this visit, he said: “We were planning — this is a high threat detail. So we were planning for the high, high threat, possibilities from the beginning of this advance. To to to say that we’re, you know, we’re planning for more threats now, we’ve already been planning for that.”

McCool said New Yorkers should plan a little extra time to get around Manhattan.

“There’s going to be disruptions — downtown, midtown and uptown. And we’re going to do the best we can to limit those disruptions. We’re well aware of the 8 million New Yorkers that got to go to work tomorrow and got to go about their daily lives, but we ask for your patience. We also ask for your help. If you see something out there, close to one of our sites or in general, please notify law enforcement as soon as possible. That’s a big help for us,” he said.

And in those areas, you should expect to see law enforcement activity.

“You’re going to see perimeters. There will be temporary road closures. You’re going to see officers and agents on roofs. You’ll see drones, you’ll see SWAT teams. You’ll see the emergency services unit from NYPD,” McCool said.

While it might be inconvenient at times, he says those measures are designed to keep New Yorkers safe, too.

“Just know that the Secret Service and the New York Police Department is going to do everything we can to keep the king and queen safe, but also keep them safe. And please be patient,” he said.

When King Charles and Queen Camilla tour the city Wednesday, the Secret Service will be working to keep…

[6
109,387,25,5215,9,24,11,10,12,87,308,27,200
0":"post-213088","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-york","8":"tag-app-local-state-politics","9":"tag-app-public-safety","10":"tag-app-top-stories","11":"tag-jillian-jorgensen","12":"tag-new-york","13":"tag-new-york-city","14":"tag-new-york-headlines","15":"tag-new-york-news","16":"tag-news","17":"tag-politics","18":"tag-public-safety","19":"tag-top-stories","20":"tag-vod
["GET
