Tina Romero\u00a0<\/a>\u2014 daughter of the late filmmaker George Romero, whose 1968 \u201cNight of the Living Dead\u201d launched the modern zombie movie genre \u2014 and artist Liz Liguori, the answer is yes.<\/p>\nNow their two-bedroom, one-bath loft at the Theatre Condominium, 133 Second Ave., is on the market for $1.97 million.<\/p>\n

The open loft also functioned as the production office for \u201cQueens of the Dead,\u201d a 2025 comedy\/horror film about drag queens and club kids fighting zombies in Brooklyn that Romero directed and co-wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt became so easy to have the cast over and to do screenings here,\u201d Romero said, adding that the loft comes with \u201cquadruple insulated\u201d Parisian-style windows, creating a soundproof sanctuary from the busy outdoor world.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like watching a waterfall when it rains. We saw shooting stars and rainbows through those windows,\u201d Romero said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou go up there and it\u2019s such a silent place, you have no idea that you are in the heart of the East Village. Inside, it\u2019s a peaceful retreat,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
And thanks to the fact that the loft \u201cdoesn\u2019t share walls\u201d with other units, \u201cyou can blast the music and rock out and no one says anything because they can\u2019t hear you,\u201d Liguori added.<\/p>\n

The 1,045-square-foot dwelling opens to a great room with floor-to-ceiling glass walls \u2014 and plenty of space for dining and entertaining, along with an adjacent chef\u2019s kitchen.<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking out the window is my favorite place to work,\u201d Romero said. \u201cI used to cafe hop, but this is the best cafe you\u2019ll ever go to.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring post-production for the movie, it was heaven to pop on the train be wherever I needed to be in 15 minutes,\u201d Romero said. \u201cIt\u2019s convenient for running and wheeling and dealing in Manhattan and yet it\u2019s so serene inside. We called St. Mark\u2019s Place \u2018city TV.\u2019 We would sit at night and look out the window and watch Second Avenue and be entertained. We\u2019ve seen the wildest things. There is always something going on out there and then it\u2019s so quiet and serene and lovely inside. That dichotomy has been a really interesting dynamic. People are shocked at how quiet and peaceful it is here.\u201d<\/p>\n
Liguori paid $1.96 million for the loft in 2022, well over its then-asking price of $1.68 million, according to records.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt served us well. It\u2019s great for hosting, but we want something bigger now,\u201d\u00a0Liguori\u00a0said.<\/p>\n
The five-story building dates to 1920. Amenities include a landscaped rooftop deck.<\/p>\n
