{"id":213181,"date":"2026-04-28T21:54:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T21:54:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/213181\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T21:54:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T21:54:09","slug":"news-12-bronx-man-pleads-guilty-in-hunts-point-crash-that-killed-rockland-county-teen-brooklyn-man","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/213181\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Bronx | Man Pleads Guilty In Hunts Point Crash That Killed Rockland County Teen Brooklyn Man"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">A Queens man pleaded guilty Tuesday to manslaughter charges for a <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/news12.com\/nypd-identifies-victims-of-fatal-hunts-point-crash-that-left-2-others-hurt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hunts Point crash<\/a> that left a Brooklyn man and a Rockland County teen dead, the Bronx District Attorney\u2019s Office says.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Enrique Lopez was doing stunts in his Chrysler at Bryant and Viele avenues just after 3 a.m. on Jan. 21, 2024, when he lost control and crashed into an oil truck, killing his passengers, Sabrina Villa-Gomez-Gonzalez, 15, and Gilvante Roberston, 21.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">A third passenger, 17-year-old Aaliyah Torres, also of Rockland County, was left fighting for her life.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Investigators say the Chrysler was equipped with a stolen engine.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Police <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/news12.com\/police-arrest-driver-in-bronx-crash-that-killed-brooklyn-man-rockland-county-teen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">arrested Lopez<\/a> a short time later, initially charging him with manslaughter, criminal possession of stolen property, criminally negligent homicide and endangering the welfare of a child.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">He was <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/news12.com\/queens-man-indicted-for-deadly-crash-that-killed-rockland-county-teen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">indicted<\/a> the following month.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Prosecutors say Lopez pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter for the deaths of Gonzalez and Roberson and assault for the serious injuries Torres suffered.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\"><a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/news12.com\/wake-services-held-for-15-year-old-fatally-struck-in-car-crash\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A wake was held<\/a> for Gonzalez, of Nanuet, back in 2024, where friends spoke out about her death.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">&#8220;She was a minor and maybe it could have been prevented now we can share awareness,&#8221; said Ana Maeda. &#8220;There are other ways we can as a community help these young adults stay here and be safe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Lopez waived his right to appeal and will be sentenced on June 17.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Queens man pleaded guilty Tuesday to manslaughter charges for a Hunts Point crash that left a Brooklyn&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":213170,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[38],"tags":[128,9,24,63,129,131,130],"class_list":["post-213181","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-the-bronx","tag-bronx","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-city","tag-nyc","tag-the-bronx","tag-the-bronx-headlines","tag-the-bronx-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/213181","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=213181"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/213181\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/213170"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=213181"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=213181"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=213181"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
