A Brooklyn man beaten bloody by a pair of cops at a liquor store in a case mistaken identity is planning to sue the city for $100 million, according to legal documents.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Timothy Brown, a 46-year-old home-health aide, told reporters at a press conference with his lawyers Tuesday that he was just buying a bottle of wine after work when a pair of narcotic cops informed him he was under arrest \u2014 then wailed on him in a graphic caught-on-camera beatdown<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n Lawyer Derek Sells walks alongside wounded wine-store beatdown victim Timothy Brown. Robert Miller for NY Post<\/p>\n \u201cI was brutally beaten for no reason,\u201d Brown said, adding that when he now sees a police car on the street, he \u201cfears for his life.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat happened to me should never happen to anyone else \u2014 it was wrong, it was disgusting, my life will never be the same,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n \u201cI was brutally beaten for no reason,\u201d Brown said. Robert Miller for NY Post<\/p>\n His lawyer, Derek Sells, said, \u201cThe NYPD \u2014 their job is to serve and protect.<\/p>\n \u201cThe only thing that they served was a beat-down to Mr. Brown, and the only thing they tried to protect was their illegal conduct,\u201d said the lawyer, chair of The Cochran Firm.<\/p>\n Sells said Brown\u2019s forthcoming $100 million lawsuit \u201cis meant to punish those officers.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to take everything from those police officers, just like they took the dignity away from Mr. Brown,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The two detectives who beat up Brown allegedly told him he was under arrest because he wore green shorts, matching a drug dealer they were seeking.<\/p>\n Brown \u2014 who appeared at the press conference with his mother Donna \u2014 struggled to walk with a cane and had his left arm in a sling Tuesday.<\/p>\n Donna said she was \u201creally disgusted\u201d that nobody from the city had reached out to her and her son in the traumatic aftermath.<\/p>\n Officials from City Hall and NYPD declined to comment Tuesday.<\/p>\n Video of the bloody beating went viral last week.
