King Charles III is set to visit New York City on Tuesday, with a stop at the 9\/11 Memorial in Lower Manhattan.<\/p>\n
The visit is part of his first trip to the United States since becoming king. It also comes as the country marks 250 years of American independence.<\/p>\n
Officials say the king is expected to arrive at the memorial later in the afternoon for a wreath-laying ceremony. He is also expected to meet with first responders and families connected to the Sept. 11 attacks.<\/p>\n
The visit comes as New York City approaches the 25th anniversary of 9\/11.<\/p>\n
After his stop in Lower Manhattan, the king is expected to head to Harlem for a community event focused on young people.<\/p>\n
King Charles spoke ahead of the visit about what he hopes to accomplish during the trip.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn this week\u2019s visit, I look forward to meeting the people of the community of this dynamic country \u2026 helping give young people a chance to succeed across America,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The royal visit is expected to impact travel across parts of Manhattan.<\/p>\n
The NYPD is warning of road closures, heavy security and delays, especially in Lower Manhattan. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time or use public transportation.<\/p>\n
