The teenage boy who was shot on a Queens subway train on Monday evening is on a ventilator and may not survive, according to his aunt.<\/p>\n
Police said he was previously shot by one of the suspects they\u2019re looking for in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n
Carol Winston said her 15-year-old nephew was shot six times and is still at a Queens hospital, where she said his mother has been debating whether to take him off life support.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe said he\u2019s not doing that well. He might not live, and she might pull the plug,\u201d Winston said Wednesday.<\/p>\n
NYPD officials said the boy got into an altercation<\/a> with two young people on a Manhattan-bound A train as it approached the 80th Street station in Ozone Park around 6 p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n At one point during the fight, police said, one of the young people grabbed a gun from the other and shot the 15-year-old. Responding officers rendered aid to the boy and brought him to Jamaica Hospital in a squad car.<\/p>\n Officials said the person who was initially carrying the gun in this case shot the same victim in the leg during a February clash at a building on Everdell Avenue in Far Rockaway.<\/p>\n Police said they arrested the alleged shooter in that incident 10 days later, but he was released from custody after the victim declined to give testimony on the matter.<\/p>\n Authorities said Wednesday they are still looking for the young people suspected in Monday\u2019s shooting. They released photos of one of them and called for the public to be on the lookout.<\/p>\n Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the incident \u201cunacceptable\u201d and pledged to do \u201ceverything in our power\u201d to make New Yorkers feel safe while commuting. Major crime in transit is down about 3.5% citywide compared to this point last year, NYPD data shows<\/a>.<\/p>\n
