A former Manhattan CBD store owner is facing federal drug distribution charges.<\/p>\n
Law enforcement officers arrested Donald Ince, 47, on a U.S. Marshals Service warrant last July for charges in Wake County, North Carolina.<\/p>\n
Ince is the former owner of American Shaman in Manhattan.<\/p>\n
Online records for North Carolina\u2019s federal court system did not give details of the alleged offenses. The Mercury contacted Ince\u2019s attorney to determine his charges. He is charged with at least two counts: one of distributing 1,000 or more kilograms of marijuana and one of possession with intent to distribute 1,000 or more kilograms of marijuana.<\/p>\n
Marshals released Ince from custody in Kansas just over a month after his arrest, on pretrial conditions supervised by the U.S. Probation Office. He also received orders to appear in the Eastern District of North Carolina.<\/p>\n
Ince\u2019s case is connected to three co-defendants, listed as Xiaojun Ma, also known as \u201cOld Horse\u201d or \u201cJack,\u201d Chunshan Han, also known as \u201cSunny Ma,\u201d and Nien Ting Tsai, also known as \u201cTom.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ince made an initial appearance in Wilmington, North Carolina, in September 2025 and has made multiple motions to continue arraignment through his federal public defender, Brett Wentz.<\/p>\n
The FBI in February conducted a search warrant of Ince\u2019s residence, because Ince allegedly had downloaded child pornography. In the search, agents reportedly found and confiscated two firearms Ince was not allowed to have but said he knew were in the residence. They also found a quantity of suspected marijuana and took several digital devices, including Ince\u2019s cell phone, which is alleged to have accessed or downloaded the child pornography. Ince also verbally reported the possession of a third firearm that he\u2019d lent to a friend.<\/p>\n
Arrested again Feb. 5 in Kansas, a federal judge in North Carolina revoked Ince\u2019s release Feb. 27. The judge ordered he be detained and placed in custody of the attorney general or a designated representative for confinement in a corrections facility.<\/p>\n
Since then, several unopposed motions for continued arraignment by Wentz have been granted, with the current hearing scheduled for May 5.<\/p>\n
Though he was remanded into custody, The Mercury has not been able to determine where Ince is being held. As of April 16, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has Ince listed as \u201cnot in BOP custody,\u201d with an unknown release date.<\/p>\n
Amid the proceedings of Ince\u2019s federal case, he also has a local case pending in Riley County District Court. Ince was arrested May 23, 2025, and released on a $50,000 bond the same day. According to documents filed with the court, Ince is charged with unlawful acts involving at least $500,000 in proceeds from drug sale, four counts of unlawful distribution of marijuana, three counts of unlawful distribution of cannabinoids and unlawful use of a cellphone to distribute controlled substances. The charges are alleged to have occurred between September 2023 and January 2025.<\/p>\n
Ince\u2019s last appearance for his Riley County case was a preliminary examination status hearing Dec. 16. He was scheduled for preliminary examination Feb. 6, one day after his second federal arrest. As he failed to appear for the hearing, Judge Jeremy Larchick issued a bench warrant for Ince\u2019s arrest with a $50,000 bond.<\/p>\n
Assistant Riley County attorney John Griffin, the lead prosecutor for Ince\u2019s Riley County charges, said the case is on hold until Ince is returned from federal custody.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A former Manhattan CBD store owner is facing federal drug distribution charges.
