Ten people were hurt \u2014 including seven police officers \u2014 when a home exploded and burned down while cops were responding to a dispute involving a knife, according to police and fire officials.<\/p>\n
Police responded to a reported dispute at a home on 130th Street in South Ozone Park around 2:42 a.m. Thursday \u2014 but when officers tried to get into the residence there was an \u201cexplosion,\u201d NYPD said.<\/p>\n
The blast sparked a massive, five-alarm inferno that quickly spread throughout the two-and-a-half-story private home and extended to a house next door.<\/p>\n

Ten people were rushed to local hospitals with minor injuries \u2014 seven of them police officers, according to NYPD and FDNY.<\/p>\n
Rattled neighbor Jessica Irving said she heard \u201cwhat sounded like gunfire\u201d amid the chaos after the initial blast \u2014 although officials have made no suggestion there was a shooting.<\/p>\n

Irving recalled hearing a \u201cblood-curdling scream\u201d as police ordered her to evacuate her house. She fled down the street in her car, she said.<\/p>\n
