{"id":215617,"date":"2026-04-30T17:03:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T17:03:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/215617\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T17:03:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T17:03:15","slug":"queens-religious-leader-arrested-for-sexually-abusing-10-year-old-girls-in-his-mosque","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/215617\/","title":{"rendered":"Queens religious leader arrested for sexually abusing 10-year-old girls in his mosque"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A religious leader has been arrested for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/site\/nypd\/services\/victim-services\/special-victims.page\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sexually abusing<\/a> two 10-year-old girls inside his Queens mosque \u2014 and investigators think there may be more victims out there, police said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Tajul Islam, 55, is accused of groping and molesting the victims inside <a href=\"https:\/\/jamiany.org\/masjid-bilal-queens\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Masjid Bilal Queens<\/a> on Sutphin Blvd. near 121st Ave. in Jamaica on April 21.<\/p>\n<p>He was arrested Monday for sexual abuse, forcible touching and acting in a manner injurious to a child.<\/p>\n<p>Islam lives at the mosque and is the congregation\u2019s \u201creligious leader,\u201d according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<p>During his arraignment in Queens Criminal Court Tuesday, he was ordered held on $25,000 bail. Orders of protection barring him from approaching his victims were issued, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p>An email for comment to the Legal Aid Society, which represented Islam at his arraignment, was not immediately returned.
