The Washington Nationals had a 3-0 lead that they blew, and then fell behind in this game by a score of 4-3. In the 8th inning, CJ Abrams<\/a> pounded a clutch 2-run homer to notch the win in this series against the Mets. <\/p>\n The team got 5.0 innings of 1-run baseball from the bullpen, and the starter, Miles Mikolas<\/a>, received some great defense like a James Wood<\/a>\u2018s home run robbery off of Juan Soto<\/a>\u2018s bat. Later in the game, Wood would dive to rob another ball. <\/p>\n To finish off the game, it was Gus Varland<\/a> with the save going 1\u2153 innings in relief of Richard Lovelady<\/a> who earned the hold. Mitchell Parker<\/a> got the win in his 3.0 innings of relief. Mikolas was good for 2 2\/3 innings before he put two runners on-base with two outs and surrendered a 3-run homer.<\/p>\n For the Nats runs, Abrams drove in three of the four runs, and Jacob Young<\/a> drove in the other with an oppo single. The Nats only had seven hits in the game, and Luis Garcia Jr.<\/a> and Abrams had two each. <\/p>\n \u201cSuch a big spot there for [CJ Abrams<\/a>]. Huge for CJ. Huge for the team. He\u2019s such a leader.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2014 manager Blake Butera<\/a> said in the postgame<\/p>\n As we have seen with this Nats team, they don\u2019t give up in close games. They collared Luke Weaver<\/a> with a blown save and a loss. The Nats head back to Washington, D.C. with a 15-17 record and another winning road trip. With today\u2019s win, the Nats have won back-to-back series at CitiField for the first time since Sept. 22-24, 2017 and April 16-18, 2018.
