A Frost Advisory is out for parts of Central New York including the Syracuse Metro and the Finger Lakes. Temperatures could get down into the middle to low 30s overnight resulting in potential damage to any tender plants.<\/p>\n

High temperatues will continue to run well below average in the upper 40s to low 50s through the weekend. These temperatures are about 10+ degrees below average for this time of the year.<\/p>\n

Partly cloudy conditions are looking likely on Friday with a very small chance of a shower or two.<\/p>\n

Looks like sunshine returns for the weekend and it is looking possible that we could see a widespread freeze Sunday morning off of the Lakes.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Syracuse leaders discuss school district’s budget<\/a><\/p>\n

Syracuse leaders Thursday gathered for a hearing after the City School District Board of Education voted to adopt its budget.<\/p>\n

Developers have been working under an agreement with the city\u00a0made in September 2025\u00a0for the building to be tenant-ready by Thursday. Per that deal, if the owners fall behind, the city can take the case back to court and pursue stronger enforcement.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Railway manufacturing facility to be built in Steuben County<\/a><\/p>\n

A new railway component production facility is coming to Steuben County, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Thursday. Officials say GHH-BONATRANS will build its first North American production facility in Wayland Business Park in the town of Wayland.<\/p>\n

Thousands of students across the state will get free breakfast Thursday morning as part of Universal Free Meals. Nutrition professionals say it has been a game-changer, not only feeding bellies but also minds.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0House approves bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security and end the record shutdown<\/a><\/p>\n

After weeks of delay, the House voted Thursday to fund much of the Department of Homeland Security, but not its immigration enforcement operations, and sent the bipartisan package to President Donald Trump to sign, ending the longest agency shutdown in history.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0Iran’s supreme leader says it will protect its nuclear and missile capabilities<\/a><\/p>\n
