That\u2019s exactly the right thing to say. But the reality is that this team, as expensive as it is \u2014 the $380 million pretax tab puts them behind only the Dodgers \u2014 isn\u2019t good enough.<\/p>\n
Two underperforming big-market teams \u2014 Red Sox and Phillies \u2014 are already banking on a tired, clich\u00e9d response by firing their managers. But while canning the skipper early may excite the perturbed Mets fanbase, that won\u2019t help these guys.
