A body has been recovered from the rubble of a Queens home that was destroyed<\/a> in a fiery explosion, the NYPD said Friday.<\/p>\n

The five-alarm blaze tore through the South Ozone Park home overnight Thursday, starting with a \u201cmassive\u201d explosion that injured police officers who were responding to a domestic dispute, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Police didn\u2019t immediately identify the person found dead at the site. An investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n

Authorities said 50-year-old Anroop Parasram forced his way into the home’s basement apartment, where his wife, daughter and two grandchildren lived, just before 3 a.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n

Surveillance footage showed him carrying garbage bags filled with canisters that contained an unknown substance into the home. Once he was inside, he allegedly threatened his wife with a knife.<\/p>\n

Police officers arrived at the scene after his family members managed to flee the apartment.<\/p>\n

As the officers tried to open the front door, the house exploded, sending glass and debris flying, NYPD body camera footage shows.<\/p>\n

The force of the blast threw the officers to the ground.<\/p>\n

Crying children could be seen and heard emerging from the smoke and rubble as officers got back on their feet to rescue them.<\/p>\n

Seven officers and a firefighter were treated for injuries at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, authorities said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be clear. We got very lucky today,\u201d Christopher McIntosh, commanding officer of Patrol Borough Queens South, said at a news briefing. \u201cThis could have turned out really differently.\u201d<\/p>\n

As of Thursday, police said they had not been able to locate Parasram.<\/p>\n

Authorities said he had three expired orders of protection against him, all of which were filed by a family member who lived at the apartment.<\/p>\n
