Mother&#8217;s Day reservations and details of a May 27 patio party were still\u00a0being pushed to visitors\u00a0on its website and social media accounts.\u00a0Lunch specials were posted the day before. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After 30+ wonderful years in business, we have made the decision to close this chapter as we move on to new future endeavors,&#8221; the Instagram post states. &#8220;We are deeply grateful for your loyalty, trust, and support throughout the years. It has truly been an honor to serve you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant, owned by siblings John and Alex Homenides, prepared dishes &#8220;Yaiyia\u2019s way, using fresh, authentic ingredients delivered daily,&#8221; according to the \u00a0website.<\/p>\n<p>A call to the business phone number plays a message saying the restaurant is closed. The owners did not immediately respond to a request for comment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The business opened on\u00a0Jericho Turnpike and\u00a0moved across the street into a larger space that offered 30 seats, including a bar and limited outdoor seating, in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Athenian served lunch and dinner. The eatery offered appetizers such as PEI\u00a0mussels in Athenian sauce and &#8220;pork lollipop,&#8221; and dishes like grilled octopus, gyro and falafel platters.
