{"id":21723,"date":"2025-10-29T20:09:03","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T20:09:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/21723\/"},"modified":"2025-10-29T20:09:03","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T20:09:03","slug":"mamdani-holds-10-point-lead-over-cuomo-poll-finds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/21723\/","title":{"rendered":"Mamdani holds 10-point lead over Cuomo, poll finds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With less than a week until Election Day, a new poll shows Zohran Mamdani with a 10-point lead over Andrew Cuomo in the New York City mayoral race.<\/p>\n<p>The Quinnipiac University poll, conducted between Oct. 23 and Oct. 27, finds the Queens assemblyman and Democratic nominee with 43% support among likely voters, the former governor with 33% and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa with 14%.<\/p>\n<p>What You Need To Know<\/p>\n<p>The latest Quinnipiac University poll,\u00a0conducted between Oct. 23 and Oct. 27,\u00a0shows Zohran Mamdani with a 10-point lead over Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral race<br \/>\n<br \/>The poll\u00a0finds Mamdani with 43% support among likely voters, Cuomo with 33% and Curtis Sliwa with 14%.\u00a0Six percent of likely voters said they were undecided, while 3% refused to respond<br \/>\n<br \/>Mamdani\u2019s support dropped by three percentage points since an Oct. 9 Quinnipiac poll showed him with 46% support.\u00a0That poll showed fewer undecided voters and voters who refused to respond<\/p>\n<p>Six percent of likely voters said they were undecided, while 3% refused to respond.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani\u2019s support dropped by three percentage points since an <a href=\"https:\/\/ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/news\/2025\/10\/09\/quinnipiac-poll-adams-exit-boosts-cuomo-numbers-but-mamdani-still-leads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Oct. 9 Quinnipiac poll<\/a> showed him with 46% support. In that poll, Cuomo \u2014 who is running as an independent \u2014 had 33% and Sliwa had 15%.<\/p>\n<p>That poll showed fewer undecided voters (3%) and voters who refused to respond (2%) than the most recent poll.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Quinnipiac University Poll assistant director Mary Snow called the uptick in undisclosed votes a \u201cwildcard\u201d in the race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe percentage of likely voters not weighing in has increased a bit since earlier this month, suggesting there\u2019s room for movement in the final stretch,\u201d Snow said.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Mamdani retained support among Democrats in the most recent poll, with 59% backing him, 31% backing Cuomo, 4% backing Sliwa, 3% undecided and 2% refusing to respond.<\/p>\n<p>Forty-five percent of Republicans, meanwhile, backed Cuomo, while 44% backed Sliwa, 5% backed Mamdani and 5% were undecided.<\/p>\n<p>The poll also found an age divide when it came to voters\u2019 preferred candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Among 18- to 34-year-olds, 64% supported Mamdani, 20% backed Cuomo, 7% threw their support behind Sliwa and 8% were undecided.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani\u2019s support dropped to 50% among 35- to 49-year-olds, however, while Cuomo\u2019s climbed to 25% and Sliwa\u2019s ticked up to 13%.
