Ted Goodman, the spokesperson who issued a statement on May 3 about the former mayor\u2019s hospitalization, asked the public for prayers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he\u2019s fighting with that same strength now,\u201d Goodman said in a statement.\n<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time Giuliani has been hospitalized in the past year. In August 2025, he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/08\/31\/rudy-giuliani-car-crash-new-hampshire-00539001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">seriously injured in a New Hampshire car crash<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Giuliani served two terms as New York City\u2019s mayor from 1994 to 2001, elected on a tough-on-crime agenda. He is credited with revitalizing New York City during the late 1990s, and for his leadership during and after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/9-11-20-years-later\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In recent years, he worked as an attorney for President Donald Trump, representing him in numerous failed attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/?s=2020+election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">which Joe Biden won<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, pictured on Nov. 26, 2024.
