Klum was recently spotted in New York City at her restaurant, Crazy Pizza, wearing straight-leg jeans, a black crewneck sweater, metallic Balenciaga sneakers and an oversized green Alpha Industries bomber jacket. She accessorized the look with a black baseball cap, aviator sunglasses and a white Louis Vuitton tote bag. The result was casual without trying too hard — perfect for city life.

Consider us inspired! We’d wear this outfit to lunch, to run errands or perhaps to that weekend mahjong game. Below, we’re breaking down the star’s outfit piece by piece so you can get the look, even if you don’t have a top model budget.

1. Slim-straight jeans

Klum’s denim appears to be a slim-straight design — not quite skinny, but not totally straight. “Sometimes called a ‘cigarette jean,’ this sleek style is a great alternative to the mom jeans we’ve been seeing over the past few years. Their slim taper allows them to be styled much more easily,” Andie Sobrato, owner and lead stylist of Andie Sobrato LLC, told Yahoo Shopping.

Originally designed for pilots, these undeniably cool coats hit at the waist and create a boxy, slouchy look that oozes it-girl vibes. Bomber jackets can add a little edge to jeans, skirts, dresses, you name it. Depending on the fabric, you could wear one with leggings to the gym, with trousers to the office or with jeans out to dinner with the fam. Most are on the thicker side, so they’re great for early spring days and chilly mornings. Go for an oversized fit like Klum’s if you want a truly modern look.

Klum’s Balenciaga sneakers take after ‘90s mesh running shoes, with fun metallic accents sprinkled into the mix. They cost a pretty penny (over $1,000!), so thankfully, more mainstream brands like Nike and Asics have similar options. Dotted with silver and gold accents, these bold sneakers will give a sporty outfit a little more style.

The more staples in your closet, the better. And a black crewneck is just that — a wardrobe workhorse that you can lean on to wear with almost anything, in any setting. Style with jeans and sneaks during the day à la Klum or heels and a killer jacket at night. For a cozy at-home loungewear look, layer one over your fave leggings.
