WILTON \u2014 A New York man was arrested last week after police said he tried to cash a stolen tax refund check at a Connecticut bank.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The man, identified as Tyrese Niles, reportedly tried to cash the check at the Webster Bank on Town Green Road in Wilton on April 28, according to the\u00a0Wilton Police Department.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officers responded to the bank for the report of a suspicious man attempting to cash a stolen tax refund check from the Internal Revenue Service, police said. Police said Niles, a Bronx, N.Y., resident, also had a fake ID.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As officers arrived, Niles began running away, according to police. Officers chased Niles and detained him on the Town Green lawn before he was able to escape into a getaway vehicle, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police charged Niles with third-degree larceny, second-degree identity theft, conspiracy to commit second-degree identity theft, criminal impersonation, second-degree forgery, tampering with physical evidence and interfering with an officer.<\/p>\n
