{"id":222917,"date":"2026-05-07T06:51:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T06:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/222917\/"},"modified":"2026-05-07T06:51:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T06:51:13","slug":"queens-wins-first-ever-ironstone-achievement-award-from-united-way-kfla","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/222917\/","title":{"rendered":"Queen\u2019s wins first ever Ironstone Achievement Award from United Way KFL&#038;A"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Queen\u2019s University\u2019s spirit of giving was recognized by the United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington with the first ever Ironstone Achievement Award.<\/p>\n<p>The Queen\u2019s community received the award for being the first workplace campaign to top the $500,000 mark, finishing the 2025 campaign with more than $524,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReceiving the inaugural Ironstone Achievement Award is an honour for Queen\u2019s and a testament to the generosity and shared purpose of our staff, faculty, and retirees,\u201d says Principal Patrick Deane. \u201cYear after year, our community demonstrates its commitment to supporting our neighbours across Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington. Surpassing the $500,000 milestone reflects not only remarkable generosity, but a collective belief in building a stronger, more compassionate region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the United Way KFL&amp;A Volunteer Awards Luncheon on April 29, Queen\u2019s also received the Ruby Leadership Award for having over 40 members who donated more than $1,200 \u2013 referred to as Leaders of the Way \u2013 to the campaign. The awards are displayed in Mackintosh-Corry Hall next to the Special Recognition for Staff Awards board.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.queensu.ca\/unitedway\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Queen\u2019s University United Way campaign<\/a> is organized by a volunteer committee with support from campus champions.<\/p>\n<p>Funds raised through the campaign support programs and services reaching more than 68,000 individuals across the region.
