Queens of the Stone Age<\/a>\u2018s Michael Shuman has shared his new summer-ready single \u2018LA\u2019 as GLU<\/a> with Lily James.<\/p>\n

The bassist has been releasing music under his genre-blending project GLU since 2022. This year, he returned with the streetwise new single \u2018Pony Boy\u2019,<\/a> and previous to that dropped his cover of Jennifer Paige\u2019s \u2018CRUSH\u2019.<\/p>\n

Now, he\u2019s released his second single of the year, the breezy \u2018LA\u2019 \u2013 featuring \u201clifelong\u201d friend and actress Lily James. All three tracks will appear on his upcoming EP \u2018PONY BOY\u2019, out August 14 via FLG (pre-save here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Speaking about the track, Shuman said: \u201cBeing an LA native, I have a lot of pride for this city. I\u2019ve been on the road most of my life, but I\u2019m always drawn back home to LA. Long term, it\u2019s hard to imagine anywhere else I\u2019d rather live. This song represents that nostalgic feeling of endless summer, and was written and recorded four years ago, but I thought now was the right time for it to be released.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very special to have Lily on this track and I\u2019m glad that we can still continue to support each other creatively in all of our endeavours,\u201d he added. She is a lifelong friend and I think her voice has never sounded better.\u201d<\/p>\n

We\u00a0last spoke to Shuman about GLU in 2022<\/a>, where he told us about the impact of the pandemic on his life. \u201cI hate to use the pandemic, but it really made you shift your priorities, your outlook,\u201d he told\u00a0NME.\u00a0\u201cI was still stuck in my old ways, but without being on tour or being able to party with other people \u2013 my vices stuck around even though I was by myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
