MILLBROOK\u00a0\u2014 It was just another Wednesday for Millbrook Deli co-owner Jim Greene until a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and red sweatpants walked into his business around lunchtime last week to order a sandwich. The man was pop icon Justin Bieber.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy counter girl and myself, neither one of us recognized him with his hood on,\u201d Greene said.<\/p>\n

Around a dozen customers who were waiting for their food at the time also didn\u2019t recognize Bieber until he held the door open for a customer walking in. The customer immediately recognized him and \u201clost her mind,\u201d Greene said.<\/p>\n
The next day, on Thursday, Greene said the phone at the deli was ringing all day, with people calling to ask if Justin Bieber was there. Later in the day, Greene was walking down Franklin Avenue in Millbrook when he spotted Bieber down the street in front of the Millbrook Diner. Greene then picked up his walking pace to catch up with him, thinking of the reactions his daughter and two stepdaughters would have if he got a photo with him.<\/p>\n
\u201cI said, \u2018My daughters are killing me. Can you take a selfie with me? It would just make their day.\u2019 And he said, \u2018Absolutely,\u2019 \u201d Greene said. \u201cHe was super nice to everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
To the surprise of local business owners and residents alike, Bieber and his wife \u2014 model and entrepreneur Hailey Bieber \u2014 were in and around the village of Millbrook between early last week and early this week, Greene and ALL THAT JAVA owner Samantha Sapienza said.<\/p>\n

Sapienza\u00a0said the Biebers visited her Millbrook and Standfordville locations multiple times between early last week and early this week.<\/p>\n \u201cOur baristas commented on how kind they both were, hugging fans and taking photos with them. And they loved our coffee,\u201d Sapienza\u00a0said. \u201cIt was a complete surprise and total thrill, and now to see them in posted photos holding my coffee cup with my beloved logo \u2026 there are no words!\u201d<\/p>\n By the end of the week, crowds of people had gathered in the village, including Connecticut resident Duda Almeida, who said she\u2019s been a fan of the pop singer since he rose to fame around 2010<\/a>.<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n \u201cI had seen through fan pages that he was in upstate New York, and I\u2019ve been a fan of him ever since he first blew up. Meeting him had always been a dream of mine, and when I realized he was close to where I live, I saw it as an opportunity to finally make that dream come true,\u201d\u00a0Almeida wrote in a statement.\u00a0\u201cThe craziest and most special part for me was that on (April 27), I had a dream that I met him, got a hug from him and told him that I had gone to Coachella\u00a0\u2014 which is exactly what ended up happening on Saturday, the 2nd.\u201d<\/p>\n Justin Bieber was one of the headliners\u00a0at\u00a0Coachella 2026<\/a>, held in California last month.<\/p>\n Almeida ran into the Biebers\u00a0at ALL THAT JAVA\u2019s<\/a> Millbrook location at 149 Church St. on Saturday afternoon. She said Justin Bieber was \u201cincredibly sweet\u201d and \u201cgave (her) the best hug.\u201d Almeida also spoke to Hailey Bieber, who she said was \u201cincredibly kind, just like (Justin) was.\u201d She posted selfies with the two on Instagram<\/a>, which had garnered over 12,000 likes by Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n Sapienza said other celebrities \u2014 such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Katie Holmes, Corbin Bernsen, Joe Jonas and Jenna Bush Hager \u2014 have visited her ALL THAT JAVA locations, which she thinks is due to the shops\u2019 proximity to New York City.<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n \u201cWe have a lot of famous people that live here and visit here, but nothing that draws the tension that (Justin) did,\u201d Greene added. \u201cIt was wild.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear why the Biebers were in the Hudson Valley. Days later, during this year\u2019s Met Gala in New York City on Monday,\u00a0Hailey Bieber\u00a0told Vogue she\u2019s recently gotten into making coffee<\/a>, including experimenting with homemade banana cold foam and cinnamon-crumble coffee.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m a sugary coffee girl,\u201d she told Vogue. \u201cNot too sweet, but I like a flavored coffee.\u201d<\/p>\n This isn\u2019t the first time the Biebers have been spotted in the Hudson Valley. In 2018,\u00a0they were seen at Nature\u2019s Pantry in New Windsor<\/a>.<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n Hailey Bieber grew up in Nyack, a village in Rockland County, before moving to New York City at 17 to pursue her modeling career, according to GQ<\/a>. Now, she primarily lives in Los Angeles with Justin.<\/p>\n Justin\u00a0Bieber performs at MVP Arena, then called the Times Union Center, in Albany on Aug. 25, 2010.<\/p>\n Lori Van Buren<\/p>\n While Justin Bieber doesn\u2019t seem to have any local ties to the region, other than his relationship with his wife, he\u00a0has performed in the Capital Region before, including\u00a0in 2010 for his \u201cMy World Tour.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n \u201cWus up, Albany?
