\u201c@MTA Due to high winds, empty tractor trailers, tandem, piggyback, dual and multiple trailers are prohibited from using the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge,\u201d the post stated as of Thursday morning. \u201cAll authorized trucks must utilize the lower level. Use alternate routes.\u201d<\/p>\n
The ban comes after the MTA placed speed restrictions on the bridge Thursday morning due to wet roadways, as previously reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n Meteorologists anticipate wind gusts of 30-40 mph during Thursday\u2019s storm<\/a>. Gusts could even reach up to 50 mph along the immediate coastline.<\/p>\n In addition to high winds, residents should expect rainfall throughout the day.
