As an NYC resident, I’m constantly passing by stylish neighbors in various boroughs. Whether I’m frolicking in Fort Greene and Bedstuy or heading downtown to the Lower East Side, I’ve taken note of recurring trends in each neighborhood—particularly, heel trends. The shoes you wear say so much about you, and as I pass by fashionable girls on my daily strolls, their heels tell me they are fabulous. The heel trends they’re wearing aren’t necessarily new, but they are eye-catching. From classic pointed-toe pumps to simple slingback kitten heels, these NYCers know how to make a statement.

Each outfit they wear has an element of chicness that I attribute to one of these heel trends. Think of simple jeans elevated by a pair of pumps, or a lace-trim skirt paired with peep-toe heels, for a casual yet chic vibe. These are the outfit types I’ve been seeing, so keep scrolling to shop each trend and enhance your daily looks.

Classic Pointed-Toe Pumps

The classic pointed-toe pump will never go out of style. They are just the best shoe trend to make an outfit look much more polished and put together. Whether you’re wearing a pair of jeans or a simple skirt, a pointed-toe pump is always dependable for elevating your outfits. I’m not one to wear this trend often, but whenever I see someone stomping through the streets of NYC with confidence in a pair of pointed-toe pumps, I can’t help but want to wear a pair too.

Peep-Toe Heels

Peep-toe heels had a big moment last year, with influencers in particular wearing them with straight-leg jeans. The S/S 25 runway collections from Tory Burch to Prada have featured the trend, and now, it’s back and better than ever. Fashion lovers are wearing them with skirts more often than not, and I am loving it. This trend tends to make an outfit look more fun and flirty. If that’s what you’re going for, I highly recommend wearing a pair. I’ve also seen city girls wearing them with long shorts and capri pants. They’re a much more versatile shoe than you’d think.

Square-Toe Heels

I forgot about square-toe block heels until I saw a friend of mine wearing a pair out and about. What I love about the city is the feeling of serendipity it always has. It’s as if I were meant to run into her so I could be reminded of how fun a shoe trend can be. I used to wear this trend as a child for special occasions, and now it’s back and worn by the coolest girls I know. Square-toe block heels look phenomenal with a dress or skirt outfit, and they’re perfect for long wear, as the block heel offers much more support than a stiletto would.

Slingback Kitten Heels

Every stylish dresser in the city knows they have to have a comfortable and chic pair of shoes to wear throughout the day. The one shoe I’ve seen people walk a ton of blocks in and still look put together is a pair of slingback kitten heels. Similar to the block heel, it’s a dependable shoe that won’t ruin your feet after hours of wear. It makes even a simple skirt or pair of spring-friendly shorts look way more polished and less casual. It’s an easy shoe to be playful with and style in various ways, which is why it’s the perfect shoe to wear around NYC.

Animal Print Heels

Animal print has been all the craze for multiple seasons now. We’ve seen animal-print bags, coats, and now, of course, shoes. Animal-print heels have been everywhere I turn, IRL and online. From snakeskin to zebra to cheetah print, they’re all chic and all over the city. They are the pop that a lot of simple outfits need. I’ve seen them styled with a plain white tee and jeans for a laid-back daytime look and with a skirt and jacket like this outfit. No matter the print, the trend is here to stay, and NYC outfits are the proof.

T-Strap Heels

T-strap heels have been slowly but surely taking over the NYC fashion scene. I’ve been spotting fashion people wearing them with a simple pair of pants, even khakis, like the look below. They are the perfect addition to a spring outfit. I find them to be so chic and versatile. I’ve even seen NYCers sporting the trend with skirt-and-tank-top outfits as well. This is one of those trends that makes you do a double-take.

Two-Tone Heels

Thanks to Chanel (the arbiter of this trend, mind you), two-tone heels are everywhere. Ever since Chanel’s spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection, all the most stylish people in the city have been wearing two-tone heels. I personally know people who went to the Chanel store as soon as that collection was available for purchase. The shoes are, indeed, stunning. I’ve seen two-tone flats around the city since last year, but there’s something in the air, and everyone has switched to heels, and I’ve been enjoying every minute of it. Cool dressers have been styling them with lightly layered outfits like the look below, or going fully casual with a pair of jeans and a tank top. The options with two-tone heels are pretty endless.
