Brooklyn residents are calling on the city to make repairs to a 4.32-mile stretch of road from East New York to Williamsburg.<\/p>\n
From potholes to major cracks in pavement, they say the corridor has been in disrepair and dangerous for over a decade.<\/p>\n
The corridor consists of about 80 intersections and has been the site of fatalities, crashes and pedestrian injuries.<\/p>\n
Local officials gathered in front of Thomas Boyland Park two weeks ago to demand that the Department of Transportation begin repairs.<\/p>\n
Estimates put total construction costs at $110 million.<\/p>\n
The DOT acknowledged that the corridor poses safety and infrastructure challenges. A spokesperson said in a written statement that it requires a “full roadway rehabilitation.”<\/p>\n
