Watch the full YouTube feature below.

Hosted by Chris Enriquez of New Noise Magazine, the event featured frontman Eugene Hütz reflecting on the band’s origins, the collision of influences that shaped Gogol Bordello’s sound and the deeply personal ideas behind the new record. Speaking about the album’s eclectic sonic palette, Hütz explained that reggaeton and electronic music now hit him with the same intensity as traditional Ukrainian folk music. “To me, it’s basically as important as Ukrainian folk music at this point,” he said.

The conversation dug into the Lower East Side roots of the band, New York’s underground music history and the strange alchemy that created what Hütz famously dubbed “gypsy punk.” Reflecting on the early years, he described Gogol Bordello as a kind of evolving sonic playground built from hardcore, techno, folk music, disco and pure downtown chaos.

Hütz also spoke passionately about working with legendary producer Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Public Image Ltd, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Idles, Refused), describing him as “a sonic spider” weaving together generations of influential records.

One of the most heartfelt moments came while discussing the single “Ignition,” inspired by enduring friendship and connection in an increasingly fractured world. “Seems like a lot of times, the only thing you really can count on is friends that you actually have for a decade too,” he mused.

Naturally, the interview wouldn’t have been complete without some record store talk. Asked to name three albums that shaped his life, Hütz shouted out Band of Gypsys by Jimi Hendrix, Fun House by The Stooges and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ Let Love In — records he described as foundational to both his musical identity and worldview.

From there, the band launched into a wild live set packed with sweat, dancing and singalongs, including performances of “Ignition” and “Life Is Possible Again,” complete with a surprise appearance from the hypnotist featured in the song’s music video. The crowd packed Rough Trade from wall to wall, with fans sticking around afterward for a meet and greet and vinyl signing session.

Fresh off the release of their explosive new album and a sold out run through New York City,…

[8
69804,9,56,63,65,64
post-227269","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-new-york-city","tag-gogol-bordello","tag-new-york","tag-ny","tag-nyc","tag-nyc-headlines","tag-nyc-news
["GET
