STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Over 1,200 residents have lost power on Staten Island amid a storm packing gusty winds and heavy rain.<\/p>\n
According to Con Edison\u2019s outage map<\/a>, approximately 1,255 customers are without service on Staten Island around 11:55 a.m. Thursday morning.<\/p>\n Large outages have been reported across the borough, including in Eltingville, Bay Terrace, Oakwood and Travis.<\/p>\n As a result of a power outage at Monsignor Farrell High School, students are being dismissed at noon.<\/p>\n Con Edison expects power to be restored to these homes by 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n These outages come amid a storm packing gusts<\/a> forecast to reach around 40 mph and rainfall expected to amount to between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain.<\/p>\n Due to high winds and wet road conditions, speed restrictions and a trailer ban<\/a> have been placed on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.<\/p>\n If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
