He was 85. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Colbert, a Kansas State Athletics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kstatesports.com\/honors\/k-state-athletics-hall-of-fame\/jim-colbert\/16\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kstatesports.com\/honors\/k-state-athletics-hall-of-fame\/jim-colbert\/16\">Hall of Famer<\/a>, had originally come to the university on a football scholarship. The first tournament victory for Colbert came at the 1969 Monsanto Open. He would go on to win eight tournament titles in 14 years on the tour. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Colbert helped design the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colberthills.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.colberthills.com\/\">Colbert Hills golf course<\/a> in Manhattan, which opened in the year 2000. The $11 million project is home to a 300-acre, 18-hole championship style course that serves as the home for the men\u2019s and women\u2019s golf programs.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WIBW.
