ESSEX COUNTY, NJ \u2014 Brendan Murphy and Luis Quintana were reelected to their leadership positions at the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC) during the board\u2019s latest reorganization meeting.<\/p>\n
Murphy was reelected as chair, and Quintana was reelected as vice chair on May 5. Another board commissioner, Elizabeth Calabrese was reelected as board treasurer. In addition, Thomas Fuscaldo was appointed clerk to the board of commissioners.<\/p>\n
Commissioners John Cosgrove, James Doran, Joseph Isola, C. Lawrence Crump and Joshua Zielinski \u2013 along with several members of PVSC\u2019s management team \u2013 also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n
Murphy has served as a PVSC commissioner since 2019, and has served as chair for the past year.<\/p>\n
\u201cI look forward to continuing our work alongside an exceptional board, leadership team and dedicated employees as we position the agency for continued success in the years ahead,\u201d Murphy said.<\/p>\n
Quintana a PVSC commissioner since 2015 and vice chair since 2018, also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to continue serving in his leadership role.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether, we remain focused on ensuring the efficient and effective operation of one of the nation\u2019s largest wastewater treatment facilities while continuing to deliver reliable service to our member communities,\u201d Quintana said.<\/p>\n
The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission serves<\/a> more than 1.6 million residents in the 48 municipalities of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Union and Passaic counties.<\/p>\n MEMORIAL BENCH<\/p>\n After the meeting, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to unveil a memorial bench in honor of late PVSC member and Newark councilwoman Mildred Crump.<\/p>\n Located in the PVSC administration building courtyard, the bench will serve as a lasting tribute to Crump\u2019s legacy of \u201cpublic service, leadership and tireless advocacy,\u201d spokespeople said.<\/p>\n Crump served on the PVSC board from 2015 to 2023.<\/p>\n Send local news tips and correction requests to eric.kiefer@patch.com.
