Mikie Sherrill said she has been briefed on the reports.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cThe Port Authority is investigating the incident and will undertake any necessary repairs immediately,\u201d Sherrill said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">All westbound lanes leading to the bridge\u2019s lower level are shut down until the roadway is determined to be safe.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">[twitter] https:\/\/twitter.com\/PANYNJ\/status\/2054629794977808495 [\/twitter]<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">RELATED: <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/hudsonvalley.news12.com\/2026\/05\/10\/car-damaged-by-falling-debris-on-cross-bronx-expressway\/QqBdLj9jhvVzQJ39Vh2nF\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Car damaged by falling debris on Cross Bronx Expressway<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says the lanes would remain closed through the Wednesday evening commute.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Officials said they received an incident report around 8:30 a.m. and have not released details about what caused the debris to fall.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Travelers heading to the 181st Street exit are being directed to the Jerome Avenue and Major Deegan exits, officials said. The 181st Street exit is closed as of Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The Port Authority urged motorists to plan for additional travel time and make alternative travel plans if possible.
