Queen Camilla has appointed one of her great-nephews to a prestigious ceremonial role in the royal household. Ike Elliot, 11, has been named a Page of Honour to the Queen, succeeding his older brother, Arthur, in the position. The appointment was announced via the Court Circular on the same day as the State Opening of Parliament on Wednesday.

A Page of Honour is a ceremonial role within the Royal Household, typically granted to teenage sons of members of the nobility and gentry. The position requires attendance at major state occasions, including coronations and the State Opening of Parliament, where Pages of Honour carry the long train of the King and Queen’s robes. Arthur, for example, was also age 11 when he carried Queen Camilla’s train at the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla in 2023.

The role is largely ceremonial in the modern era, though it remains one of the more visually distinctive positions in the royal household. The Pages wear a scarlet frock coat with gold trimmings, a white satin waistcoat, white breeches and hose, white gloves, black buckled shoes, a lace cravat, and a feathered three-cornered hat, with a sword completing the ensemble.

Ike is the younger son of Ben Elliot and Mary-Clare Elliot, and the grandson of Annabel Elliot, Queen Camilla’s younger sister. Annabel, an interior designer who has worked on several of King Charles’s estates, was one of two ladies in attendance for Camilla at the coronation. Her husband, Simon Elliot, died in 2023 at 82 after a long illness.

Ben Elliot, Ike and Arthur’s father, is a businessman and former co-chairman of the Conservative Party. He married Mary-Clare Winwood, the eldest daughter of musician Steve Winwood, in 2011, with King Charles and Queen Camilla in attendance at the wedding.
