Brothers, former New York City real estate gurus and convicted sex traffickers<\/a> Alon, Oren and Tal Alexander will now wait until October to find out if they\u2019ll be getting a life sentence for spending a decade<\/a> using their wealth and influence to entice women into scenarios where they could drug and rape them.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The trio, who have collectively been accused of rape and sexual assault by over 60 women, have been awaiting sentencing in Brooklyn\u2019s Metropolitan Detention Center since March 9, when a jury found them guilty<\/a> on 10 counts of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and inducing women to travel for sex.<\/p>\n

They were initially set to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni on Aug. 6. However, the federal judge issued an order this week pushing the sentencing back to Oct. 6, adding that, \u201cabsent extraordinary cause,\u201d it wouldn\u2019t be moved again.<\/p>\n

Nearly a dozen women testified at the Alexanders\u2019 roughly six-week trial, telling the jury in graphic detail how the Alexanders worked together to purchase them flights and offer them enticing experiences in the Hamptons, New York City and around the globe, then slipped drugs in their drinks or forcefully pinned them down to rape them, sometimes drawing blood<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Their defense attorneys argued<\/a> that the women were lying<\/a> or simply regretful of their choice to have sex with the brothers, and that, while some of the conduct may have been rape, it wasn\u2019t technically sex trafficking<\/a>, arguments the jury disagreed with in their verdict.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Though Caproni didn\u2019t include a reason for pushing the sentencing in her order, it comes as some of the Alexanders\u2019 attorneys juggle a few other high-profile cases.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oren Alexander attorney Marc Agnifilio is representing alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO shooter Luigi Mangione in both his state and federal cases, which are expected to go to trial on Sept. 8 and Oct. 5, just a day before the Alexanders are now set to be sentenced, respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Agnifilo and Oren\u2019s other attorney, Teny Geragos, is also working on Harvey Weinstein\u2019s third New York rape trial, which a jury is expected to return a verdict in this week.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Caproni\u2019s order also mandates that government prosecutors must inform the court how many of the brothers\u2019 victims will be speaking at the sentencing hearing by Aug. 7 and that either party must inform her by Sept. 17 whether they\u2019ll request a pre-sentencing hearing to present Caproni with additional information they\u2019d like her to consider before she delivers her sentence.\u00a0<\/p>\n
