{"id":231922,"date":"2026-05-14T20:59:04","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T20:59:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/231922\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T20:59:04","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T20:59:04","slug":"fdny-says-bronx-fire-that-killed-3-people-was-intentionally-set-with-gasoline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/231922\/","title":{"rendered":"FDNY says Bronx fire that killed 3 people was intentionally set with gasoline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-block-key=\"gv6xc\">The man accused of starting a deadly fire in the Bronx earlier this month is now accused of intentionally setting it, according to the FDNY.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"9nu5k\">The fire department announced Thursday that investigators determined the May 6 blaze was \u201cintentionally set with gasoline\u201d and identified the suspect as Daniel Santana.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"hrf2\">The fire broke out shortly after 5 a.m. at a mixed-use building at 2592 3rd Ave. in Mott Haven, where firefighters encountered heavy flames on the first and second floors of the building, authorities have said. Three people were killed.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"vpdp\">FDNY officials said crews had to switch to exterior operations because of the intensity of the fire and concerns the building could collapse.
