NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) \u2014 Massive amounts of rainfall set a record<\/a> in the heart of New York City on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

New York City streets flooded<\/a> across the five boroughs due to the heavy rains. Some subways were partially suspended<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n

New Yorkers were seen clearing out sewers in a crowded Brooklyn street on <\/a>Thursday afternoon. Trees were seen on top of vehicles in Queens<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n

Thursday marked a record-breaking day in Central Park, too. The NWS reported that 1.80 inches of rain fell there, which broke the previous record of 1.64 inches set in 1917, according to New York City Emergency Management.<\/p>\n

Records date back to 1896.<\/p>\n

At LaGuardia Airport<\/a>, 1.97 inches of rain fell on Thursday, breaking the previous record of 1.18 inches in 1955. Those records date back to 1939.<\/p>\n
