Jurors in the third Manhattan sex crimes trial against former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein are deadlocked, the presiding judge announced Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe, the jury, have concluded we cannot reach a unanimous decision,\u201d the jurors said in a note to Judge Curtis Farber.<\/p>\n
Farber ordered the jurors to continue deliberating. If they cannot reach a unanimous verdict, he said, then the court will need to schedule a new trial in front of a different jury.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you need readbacks or clarifications of the law, we stand ready to do so,\u201d Farber instructed the panel. \u201cI appreciate the process is difficult. Please continue to deliberate.\u201d<\/p>\n
Weinstein is charged with third-degree rape against former aspiring actor Jessica Mann, who claims the disgraced entertainment mogul assaulted her at a DoubleTree hotel in Manhattan in 2013.<\/p>\n
He pleaded not guilty to the charge, and he has denied all allegations of nonconsensual sex.<\/p>\n
The trial marks the third time Weinstein faces charges stemming from Mann\u2019s allegations. <\/p>\n
He was first convicted in early 2020<\/a> of third-degree rape related to Mann\u2019s claims, but a New York state appeals court overturned the conviction<\/a> in 2024, ruling that the trial judge had improperly allowed testimony about allegations not directly tied to the case.<\/p>\n Weinstein was again tried on Mann\u2019s allegations<\/a> last year, but the jury failed to reach a verdict<\/a> on the count tied to her.<\/p>\n In that second trial, the jury convicted Weinstein of first-degree criminal sexual act for forcibly performing oral sex on former \u201cProject Runway\u201d production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006. He was acquitted on a second first-degree criminal sexual act charge stemming from a similar allegation by former model Kaja Sokola. <\/p>\n The day after jurors delivered that mixed verdict, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg said his office was \u201cready to go forward to trial again, after conferring with Jessica Mann.\u201d<\/p>\n In recent years, Weinstein\u2019s health has visibly declined and he has faced various medical issues, including a diagnosis of bone marrow cancer in 2024.
