AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Inside the flooded basement, firefighters found a man who sources said had made it out of his home, but rushed back inside to save his dogs. <\/p>\n<p>Video captured by a passerby showed the FDNY and members of the scuba team carrying the victim\u2019s limp body out of the apartment building while they were still wading through ankle-high water in the street.<\/p>\n<p>The man was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear if the dogs were rescued. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, about 30 minutes later in Washington Heights, a 43-year-old man was also found unresponsive inside a flooded boiler room on West 175th Street in Washington Heights shortly after 4:30 p.m., police said.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37536513\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2243665878.jpg\" alt=\"A person walking in the rain holding a jacket over their head in a city street.\" class=\"wp-image-37536513\"  \/>An inch of rain fell in just 10 minutes in parts of the five boroughs, creating havoc and overwhelming parts of the city\u2019s infrastructure with little warning. AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The man was pulled from the basement, but emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Sources told The Post that the victim was working on the boiler during the flood and that preliminary reports indicate he was electrocuted.<\/p>\n<p>Both victims\u2019 identities are being withheld pending their families\u2019 notification.
