When Barbara Corcoran walks into a business and gives her name, she can see the disappointment on people\u2019s faces immediately.<\/p>\n
\u201cI went into a rental car place in Cooperstown and said, \u2018Hi, I\u2019m Barbara Corcoran,\u2019 and I could see [the employee] literally deflate in front of me,\u201d Corcoran told The Post. \u201cThis kind of thing happens at least once a year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Barbara Corcoran, 60, is a Realtor and luxury property specialist at William Raveis\u2019s Osterville office on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. She\u2019s been in the real estate business for about 20 years and has sold more than $100 million worth of property. <\/p>\n

Corcoran has been her married name for more than three decades. She and her family, however, are not related to \u201cShark Tank\u201d star Barbara Corcoran<\/a>, 77, who famously sold the real estate firm she founded, the Corcoran Group, for $66 million in 2001.<\/p>\n But despite being a mom of three from a different state, working in real estate under the same name as, arguably, the most famous broker ever, Corcoran is used to being mistaken for the New York real estate maven.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I was working at my first company, I received a phone call from a gentleman asking me to speak at a real estate conference, but I had only been in the business two years and had no idea why he\u2019d ask me,\u201d Corcoran said. \u201cBut he didn\u2019t want me to speak, and that was the first time it clicked.\u201d<\/p>\n Corcoran said that when she started in real estate 20 years ago, the other Barbara Corcoran wasn\u2019t on television every week through ABC\u2019s \u201cShark Tank\u201d<\/a> \u2014 which premiered in 2009 \u2014 or all over social media, where she now has 1.3 million followers on Instagram and TikTok each.<\/p>\n Now, Cape Cod Corcoran said she can\u2019t Google herself or promote her business online without having to go through \u201cpages and pages\u201d before she can find herself on the screen.<\/p>\n \u201cOne time, [a receptionist] told me that she got up early and put on all of her makeup and got all ready because she thought she was meeting Barbara Corcoran,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd she did meet Barbara Corcoran! Just not the one she thought.\u201d<\/p>\n Corcoran, who lives in Cape Cod, has seen people deflate when they expect the other Barbara Corcoran to show up. Josh Reynolds for The New York Post<\/p>\n There have also been errant emails.<\/p>\n \u201c[Years ago], I received a receipt from Vineyard Vines to my generic \u2018bcorcoran\u2019 email,\u201d Corcoran added. \u201cI opened it up, and the clothes purchased were all a size 2! I\u2019m not a size 2. So I was like, \u2018Yeah, this isn\u2019t me.\u2019 And then wondered if this was her order.\u201d<\/p>\n
