STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 A nearly 300-year-old Staten Island home \u2014 one of the few surviving pre-Revolutionary Dutch colonial farmhouses in New York City \u2014 is hitting the market in Westerleigh.<\/p>\n

The Peter Houseman House was constructed in 1730 and added upon in 1760. It \u201cis one of the few surviving pre-Revolutionary Dutch colonial farmhouses in New York City, thoughtfully expanded in the 18th century and preserved to reflect its rich architectural heritage,\u201d according to the home\u2019s Realtor.com listing<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Dongan family sold the home \u2014 then just a one-room stone structure \u2014 and 46 acres of the estate to Houseman in 1760, in the neighborhood known today as Westerleigh. Houseman added a clapboard section to the home the same year he purchased it.<\/p>\n

The original sections are still a part of the home\u2019s foundation nearly three centuries after being built despite upgrades bringing the space into the 21st century. <\/p>\n

Today, the home is located on a 10,500-square-foot Westerleigh lot and offers three bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, and an indulgent sunroom to its potential buyer. <\/p>\n

Spread across two floors and a basement, the home possesses 1,495-square-feet of living space with enough wiggle room to house your personal library or your home office with ease. <\/p>\n

Outside, an original 18th-century well still sits on the property. Instead of a water well, it was originally used to keep food cool deep in the ground<\/a>. <\/p>\n

A detached two-car garage with a second-level storage area also sits on the property.<\/p>\n

The home was categorized as a New York City Landmark in 1970. <\/p>\n

Listed by Salmon Real Estate, the home\u2019s first open house in Monday, May 17, and it will feature a wine and cheese event from 4 to 7 p.m. <\/p>\n
