{"id":236210,"date":"2026-05-19T01:11:12","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T01:11:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/236210\/"},"modified":"2026-05-19T01:11:12","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T01:11:12","slug":"the-hollow-jacks-oyster-house-win-inaugural-melba-madness-in-albany","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/236210\/","title":{"rendered":"The Hollow, Jack&#8217;s Oyster House win inaugural Melba Madness in Albany"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two restaurants shared top spots in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/food\/article\/albany-celebrating-raspberry-melba-melba-madness-22235021.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Albany\u2019s inaugural Melba Madness<\/a> tour that took place Saturday, promoting a tasting of more than a dozen dishes featuring the known Capital Region raspberry sauce.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Downtown Albany Business Improvement District announced Monday that The Hollow Bar won the People\u2019s Choice first place award with its cream cheese-stuffed jalapeno (traditional or vegan) with blackberry melba sauce. For the judge\u2019s choice, Jack\u2019s Oyster House topped the list with its pan-fried duck dumpling with melba teriyaki. The Hollow won the judge\u2019s second-place choice, and Jack\u2019s won the second People\u2019s Choice spot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out each of those rankings, A Slice of That\u2019s melba-infused pizza bites won third place for People\u2019s Choice, and the Hilton Albany had two offerings that swayed the day\u2019s judges with candied pistachio panna cotta topped with melba as well as a foie gras crostini with mela gelee and Marcona almonds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>More than 180 ballots were cast by visitors on the Melba Madness tour during the weekend, with 350 tickets sold, the BID said.
