The woman fell down about 10 feet.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"hsDdd NDJZt sJeUN IJwXl vBqtr KrDt itslR zFTjo hakZw HlUVI \" data-testid=\"prism-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/19130615_051926-cc-wabc-manhole-cover-img.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">She was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Our sister station WABC-TV spoke to family members who said they are deeply saddened and extremely shocked. They want answers as to how this could have happened.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Con Edison is investigating why the manhole was left uncovered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">&#8220;We are deeply saddened to confirm that a member of the public has died after falling into an open manhole. We are actively investigating how this occurred.
