In celebration of nearly a decade of grassroots organizing, artistic collaboration, and cultural advocacy, SEQAA will transform the historic house into a vibrant community-centered arts space featuring artist residencies, exhibitions, workshops, film screenings, performances, and collaborative programming over the next six months.<\/p>\n<p>SEQAA\u2019s opening reception for its collective exhibition, From Southeast Queens, with Love, took place on May 16. Following the opening, SEQAA House will remain open to visitors during public viewing hours on weekends from 11 AM\u20135 PM from May 16 \u2013 November 2, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2017, SEQAA emerged from a peer circle of artists gathering in Jamaica, Queens to discuss the realities of creating within one of the most under-resourced regions in New York City, particularly when it comes to arts funding and cultural infrastructure. Southeast Queens has long been rich in creativity, culture, and history, yet artists in the area have consistently faced limited access to resources, exhibition spaces, institutional support, and sustainable funding opportunities. What began as conversations between artists grew into a collective dedicated to mutual support, visibility, and creating opportunities where few existed.<\/p>\n<p>The Southeast Queens Artist Alliance stands for collective empowerment, artistic equity, and community-centered cultural work.
