April Carri\u00f3n made a statement on the runway in a stunning outfit inspired by the vejigante mask.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carri\u00f3n is one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/remezcla.com\/lists\/film\/latina-queens-returning-rupauls-drag-race-all-stars-season-11\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">six Latina queens<\/a> competing in the eleventh season of RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race All Stars. The Puerto Rican queen originally appeared on season six of RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race back in 2014. Now, Carri\u00f3n is currently competing in the second bracket. And her runway look this week pays homage to an iconic Puerto Rican folkloric character.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vejigante mask is a staple of Puerto Rican folklore and festivals. Though the mask has Spanish origins, it was Ta\u00edno and African influence that transformed it to what it is today. It\u2019s a colorful symbol of resistance and resilience that\u2019s proudly Puerto Rican. As a part of the butter-colored runway this week, Carri\u00f3n wore a vejigante mask styled headpiece with a festival-ready outfit. She also noted the mask\u2019s connection to Puerto Rican bomba.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am a vejigante, a very iconic character in the Puerto Rican bomba, which is a very traditional Puerto Rican dance,\u201d Carri\u00f3n said. \u201cWith this look, I am really doing a marriage of two things I love, which is Puerto Rican culture and queerness. I want to evoke that happiness, that freedom that there is in that bomba scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/remezcla.com\/film\/who-are-the-hosts-for-drag-race-mexico-latina-royale\/\" title=\"Here Are the Hosts for \u2018Drag Race M\u00e9xico: Latina Royale\u2019\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/header-dragrace.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"lazyload\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the judges\u2019 critiques, Carri\u00f3n also talked about the intentions behind her vejigante outfit. \u201cIt\u2019s representing a camp figure for a dance called bomba, but it\u2019s not very queer friendly, so I decided to take that and make it my own,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s two more episodes left with the second bracket cast.
