Cerullo III were named among the Class of 2026 and recognized May 16 during a formal gala in the historic Great Hall on Ellis Island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"Q7Z3XHXX6JFT3PHUDBZTPLZY6E\">The medal, considered one of the nation\u2019s highest civilian honors, is officially recognized by both houses of Congress and entered annually into the Congressional Record. Past recipients include U.S. presidents, Nobel laureates, business leaders and cultural icons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"IF4NCDEUXBANFNU6PE4STR6LHI\">Presented each year on Ellis Island \u2014 the entry point for more than 12 million immigrants between 1892 and 1954 \u2014 the award honors individuals who embody the American ideals of diversity, patriotism and service.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Ellis\" class=\"article__image-content\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/43PPDF4G7VAUVEQ3SJNRPXAN4A.JPG\"  \/>Miss Liberty, the boat that transported guests to Ellis Island (Courtesy\/Elissa Montanti)Staten Island Advance<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"E43CAEQ775EBDLS2AOF5XWS5WY\">Montanti, founder and executive director of the Global Medical Relief Fund, and Cerullo, president and CEO of the Grand Central Partnership, were recognized for their commitment to philanthropy, civic leadership and improving the lives of others.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FOCIIY7LBZAAVJOH6NNHAVAOLE\">Ellis Island Honors Society Chairman Nasser J.
