The Brooklyn district attorney\u2019s office is declining to prosecute a man for homicide who says he was defending himself during the bloody clash with his friend inside a Crown Heights apartment<\/a>, a high-ranking police official said Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The 58-year-old man claimed he was defending himself when a 56-year-old man bum-rushed his way into an apartment and started punching him Monday inside a three-story residential building on Troy Ave. near Park Place<\/a>, law enforcement sources said.<\/p>\n

The suspect fatally stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife. The suspect, with his hands covered in blood, then rushed to the 77th Precinct stationhouse<\/a> around 3:15 a.m., where he told police he believed he had just killed his friend inside an apartment.<\/p>\n

The suspect, who has 16 arrests on his record, had bloody hands and cuts, a source added.<\/p>\n

Officers then rushed to the scene of the homicide, where they found bloody footprints outside the apartment, sources said. Inside was the victim, lying faceup, with stab wounds to his chest and arms. Responding medics pronounced him dead at the scene at 3:27 a.m.<\/p>\n

The bloody kitchen knife was found at the scene, and a pair of scissors may have also been used.<\/p>\n

The victim also had prior arrests on his record, sources said.<\/p>\n

It was not immediately clear who lived in the apartment or what sparked the attack.<\/p>\n

No charges have been filed.
